I am in wolf form; just finished getting the molten shard and bringing to Zora's domain. I went over the falls and ended up in Lake Hylia. I saved and ended the game there. When I restarted, I was back in Zora's Domain and when I go over the falls now, I am left in Hyrule Field. I can't get back to Lake Hylia. The portal is not open yet. When I go back to the bridge, there are no more cartons to jump over the side. How to I get back to Lake Hylia in wolf form?

At the moment, you don't. For now, just collect the Tears of Light, and the lake will end up filling up with water, and you'll be able to access it regularly without jumping off the bridge.
