US Avatar game & European Wii console

Hi, my son just got received a copy of a Wii game from the US called 'Avatar The Last Air Bender' (its a cartoon series) by THQ.

It refuses to load in his European Wii console (Ireland) and gives a cannot read disc error. Does anyone know if that's a region issue or a damaged disc?

I'm waiting to hear back from THQ, but no joy so far.

i think the wii has reigon lock

Yes Wii is region locked.
So I am afraid is normal that does not load it.

Just so I'm clear on this!

You think when you put a disc in that is not for your Wii's region, you get a disc cannot be read error, instead of a message stating you have a disc for a different region and it cannot be played...? Wow isn't that user friendly hardware/software!
