VC vs Game Cube

Are VC an exact port from previous platform?
For example Mario Cart - should I buy VC or Gamecube.
Cost is one consideration - what are some others?

Afaik they are direct ports.

The mario kart 64 was never on the gamecube that was mario kart double dash.

There are some games you can get on the Gamecube that are on the VS like Sonic, and Zelda. And alot of the SNES games are on the GBA but there like 30 bucks?
The VC has the cheapest deal for most the games.

MK64 and MK on the gc are diffrent
Also the gc version was horrable

I liked Mario Kart 64 but didin't they take out the ghosts? If so I don't think I'm getting it. I'm going for Double Dash cuz its twice the fun. Plus I don't see the point of getting two of the same type games. Its and either or situation for me.
