WiiChat's Smash4 Group Roster!

As for Star Fox, Krystal is probably one'a the most obvious characters who could join Smash overall. However, we ain't seen a game from the series in a long while. The fan demand is there, but Ninty actually supportin' the series ain't. Not publicly anyways. If there's a Star Fox title in development, I certainly don't know of it. And that's a decidin' factor in whether or not my prediction will be the roster not changin' or a new character; almost assuredly Krystal; would get in.

Well, it's heavily hinted at that the new Retro game is a SF title, plus, it's only been seven years (Been five since Brawl's release). Not too long really.

Krystal has my vote. I'll just leave this here. My reasoning for predicting Krystal:

I've always considered Krystal a legitimate choice. She's not K Rool, but she is Popular, she could be a last minute clone, or completely unique, and she's both prominent and important enough. Plus Sakurai does like the series, and although I'm grasping at straws right meow, we did get THIS in Brawl:

Peppy: That gives me itching for some action. I want in!

Slippy: No way! Old-timers like you ride the bench. This fight's mine!

Krystal: What are you two thinking? I'm the only one who can come through in a fight like this!!

A member of the Star Fox team welcomed in Star Fox Adventures after the team met her on planet Sauria when responding to a distress signal. Krystal is capable of telepathy and is a valuable member in combat. After becoming romantically involved with Fox, their relationship gets very rocky in Star Fox Command.
SO, at the very least, we know Sakurai sees her fighting prowess. Combine all of this together, and we have a legitimate contender. It's really just a matter of IF she'll be chosen this time.

/Krystal presentation

As for Ridley, I'm going to just go with him being included. Despite Sakurai laughing at the idea of him being playable a few years back.

Holy **** that's a lot of characters.

Where did you get the ideas for those?

I know way too much about Nintendo. And, I have a lot of cool friends who helped me build it.

If anyone is interested, I can post my new poll results?

I would like to see the results too.

I believe Sakurai adds character depending on series popularity.
Pokémon being the most popular of Nintendo's series got the most characters.
Mario being next and Legend of Zelda as third most popular.

Star Fox is not THAT popular and still with not a whole lot of "new" games and not that many characters, I don't think Star Fox will be getting another one.

Metroid on the other hand, has the popularity for at least one more character but the problem is that Metroid lacks reasonable characters to put in. Ridley is Samus' a main rival but he is impractical to become a playable character in Smash, however I think it can be done.

I believe Sakurai adds character depending on series popularity.

And here's why your wrong, brought to you by the one and only ToiseOfChoice

Really, all Sakurai is looking for when adding characters is:

Popularity, Prominence/Importance, and "fighting ability"

I can site his rules if you would like? (Yes, he's stated what he looks for in when adding characters before)

You understand that Pokémon's popularity is bigger then Mario.

Has Mario ever been on legal tender? Not that I know of.
mindblowing-facts-about-money1484380948-may-15-2012-600x308.jpg

(Only royalty and highly esteemed people get there face on money)

Sure Nintendo's mascot is Mario and Mario has been around longer then Pokémon...
But back in the day Pokémon exploded back then. It does not just include just game sales but also anime and other products.

In the golden age of Pokémon, Pokémon was more popular then Mario.

Understand popularity based on sales must include all products not just the games.

LoZ on the other hand, has many fanatics like Pokémon and Mario. Not to mention that OoT ranks as one of the best games ever.

LoZ's fanbase is like the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Tolkien fanbases. There are quite a lot of fanatics which in my opinion counts more then normal fans. One because they do things (like make fan series, movies, and novels) that keep advertizing the series. Two fanatics stay fans for life.

Let me throw a number your way.
A quick Google search of Pokémon's Net Value...
Pokémon stands at $24 Billion
Compare that to only the game sales which does not even break a billion let alone 24 billion.

>Most Popular Games get most characters
>Show you how that's not true
>Disregards what I've showed you.

Samus / ZSS
Ridley

Fox
Falco
Wolf
Krystal

My votes ~

You just disregarded the numbers

Pokémon as a franchise sits at $24 Billion
186 Million is 18.6% of ONE Billion
The game sales alone are a drop in the bucket to Pokémon's net revenue.

Mario franchise's Net Worth?
$10 Billion

Pokémon is undoubtedly the giant of the two.

I told you, knowledge is worthless unless you know what it means in the first place. You must know how to interpret the numbers. Knowledge without wisdom is in vain.
All you did was show the game sales, but what you didn't know that was only part of a whole lot more. The net profit is much bigger.

Don't close your mind so quickly. Facts and Knowledge is only part of it. The real truth behind them is in understanding what they mean.

I also told you before, character popularity does not matter. What does is franchise popularity and seires popularity.

You put your faith in numbers...
SO DO I!
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

All in all, Nintendo is a business. Characters don't make the game. Games make the characters. The sales makes the games and the franchise makes the games sell.

All I see, is a pattern with Nintendo's franchises popularity (money wise (net worth)) and the amount of characters per franchise in the Smash rosters. Obviously to balance out the roster the ratios don't work with some of the less profitable franchises but there is a pattern. Pokémon stands tall with Mario and Legend of Zelda not far behind in characters.

If you use more characters from the most popular franchises the game will sell better. It's simple business logic.

Let's just remember that numbers only mean so much to Sakurai. He has the ultimate in the game. When looking at characters HE HIMSELF HAS SAID

- The character's inclusion must make people want to buy the game.
- The character must be unique
- The character must fit into the style of Super Smash Bros.
- They must contribute to the game balance.

And originating in a video game and being on a Nintendo system

So, keep these in mind whenever you're predicting characters. There is really no if, ands or buts about this.

And it really does not contradict what I said.
If you look at the first statement. He is talking about sales and business.

Of course there needs to be a balance when dealing with franchise representation. However, the more popular franchises will make a bigger impact. Such are the numbers I brought.

I do think logically, and I know a game full of only Pokémon, Mario, and LoZ characters wont sell as well as a diverse pallet. However that does not mean that all franchises will have equal representation. The franchises that will have the most impact, which ultimately impacts sales, will have better representation.

The marketing strategy that is Super Smash Bros. is ingenious, not that it was meant to be in the first place. The lesser know franchise can now benefit from Pokémon's and Mario's fame and become more well known themselves. Crossovers are an important marketing tool and Smash Bros. is the greatest one (crossover) I have seen. The idea is brilliant and it affects the revenue of all the franchises represented in it, which is basically Nintendo as a whole. Which is why Mario and Pokémon are more important then the others but the others still matter.

Understand how I am thinking?

*shrugs* Iunno o.o

Do you have an opinion on the Metroid, and Star Fox franchises? So far the newcomers that have been brought up are Ridley, and Krystal. The latter I posted an argument FOR her on the page before this.
