Since Wii's Launch I've seen a lot of speculation about things like USB Keyboard, etc. I'm thinking to up the competition with FPS' against other consoles, Wii would take the step in utilizing the Wii-gun ("The Zapper"). It's not that far out there to say that this could most definitely revolutionize competitive gaming. I'm thinking for all those CS (counter-strike) and big FPS players out there Wii might be the next step from oldschool gaming especially competitive gaming. I would love to see games applying this hardware but as of right now I don't see any titles using it.

Not that the Nunchuk + Wiimote wouldn't be feasible, its just that if you've got a good thing why not use it. It's like choosing to eat at a fast food joint or a nice restaurant for free. either one gets the job done but if something better is available take it.

I am a PC gamer and i cant see the wii mote overtaking the mouse tbh ( just my opinion ) but wii sports is class...

Point Blank is a must for the wii.

to preface this: I've been playing FPS's on the PC since wolf3d, quake being the first to actually use the mouse+kb combo. of course I still play FPS's on the computer to this day.

I must say, though, that as far as FPS's are concerned, I would take the wiimote+nunchuck over the mouse+kb any day. It's faster, more accurate, and more involving. The mouse+kb combo is one that I wasn't sure could be beat, but I think the wiimote+nunchuck may have 1-upped it.

Just my $0.02.

i think that there some work to be done befor yu see cs on a wii plus t5he code would need redoing and i dont think pure pc gamers are ready for a consle..... and they wouldn't survive without counter strike porn sprays

I've never really been much of a console user, I've had a couple of consoles being the Megadrive and the PS. I play a lot of FPS' on the PC and I'm having a little trouble adapting to the wiimote, but I guess it just takes some time. I'm not sure if I'll buy the zapper, it's something I'll have to think about nearer to the time of the zapper.

im yet to play an fps on the wii because i cant and dont see consoles coming close to PC fps. I to have played PC fps since wolf 3d and racked up a number of fps during the years, q1, q2, q3, ut1, ut2003/4, rtcw, mohaa, cod, cod2 bf, bf2, all the dooms, duke nukem etc etc. the list can go on. I personally dont see the wii mote beating the mouse/keyboard. but i am still yet to try it.

Ive been playing PC fps games for many years, and im a cs:source player. At this time, the mouse and keyboard is way too good, being too accurate for the wii mote to compete with it, but games like call of duty, and even the zelda bow aiming system show off the wii's true fps capabilities, and I must say it is way more fun than any PC mouse can offer. I personally can't w8 for the new Medal of Honours. The cinematic action and the multiplayer, especially if its online, is my thing. It seems way too cool to ignore.

It makes more sense in releasing a holder (sort of like the steering wheel already about) to insert the remote into than a full fledged gun... it would be cheaper too. My guess is that would be valid for everything (shotgun, sword, etc...) but I suppose the only draw back would be that the rumble effect would be reduced... not necessarily a big deal.

They made this a while back as a prototype, but im not sure if they ever did anything with it. Haven't heard anything recently.
Personally, I would love to use something like this and i think it would really take advantage of the Wii's capabilities with FPS games.

Yeah would be cool. I saw this picture back at E3 and I thought it was a Launch Item. I was wrong but it does eliminate the Nuncuk and Wiimote quite alot. Though If Time Crisis came out for it that Gun would rock. I'd get it

That gun looks like **** to be frank, they need an insert for the remote and so u have a gun in one hand and the nunchuck in the other, ive seen a few fan made ones they look pretty good and not that hard to do

I'm guessing if they make a Wiiboard it will be bluetooth, hence wireless. They may do this, either way I would expect a USB keyboard support update to come long before this. Just like MS hasn't made a Xbox keyboard, they just gave support for USB keyboards and you just use the one you like.

If you notice that prototype gun, they use the nunchuk mounted behind the wiimote. So you are using the nunchuk as the gun trigger. This seems sorta strange because the wiimote has a trigger and seems to resemble a gun more. I'm not sure how controlling everything with 1 hand would work in a FPS.

What would be really cool is if they came out with a gun like that for 1 hand wiimote+nunchuk then let you use a 2nd wiimote to navigate the level, switch weapons etc. Sorta like that pic someone make of a wii power glove where the guy had a wiimote strapped to each arm, with a possibility of holding a nunchuk in each hand.

Think about it, all these 1 player, or 2 player only games where your extra wiimotes just sit there. There is nothing saying player 1 can't hold wiimote #1 and #2, and player 2 can hold wiimote #3 and #4. Infact I can almost guarantee at some point in the future we will see something like this used in a game, maybe a new boxing game for example.
