how do i hit other players properley ?

hi people,

i know this might sound like a stupid question, but when you and an opponent is running for a free ball (e.g when it gets cleared up the pitch) how do you hit the opponent hard so he stayes down longer, because when i press te d-pad it just takles the and they get up straight away ! but when they do it they barge me flying and it takes longer for me to get up !!! is it just me or am i doing something wrong ??? pleaser help me !!

Shake the Wii-mote.

When you press the D-Pad all that does is tackle the ball. When you shake the Wiimote, your player will hit the closest player.
