Yeah, you connect the USB LAN adaptor to the Wii and the router; the USB part goes into one of the two USB ports on the back of Wii while the other part you plug an ethernet cable into which you then plug into one of the ethernet ports of your router.

For clarity for those unsure of what I'm talking about, look at the picture below:

So the LAn has to go through the netgear? So it still wouldnt connect well. It says the netgear i have doesnt work well, but i still have to connect the LAn to the netgear right? So how does the LAn work? DOes it make it faster and connect it better? Sorry i am so confused

Well... wired is generaly faster and more reliable if that's what you're asking
