B - 3.0
C - 2.0
...etc.

The letters are averaged in the US system.

Now it's when you get to AP classes where some have curved 4 scales and some have 5.0 scales, leading to GPA's above 4.0.

It's a screwy system and I suppose It'll be my rant.
