they could add characters that way

So even if they do f-ck up they can somewhat redeem themselves later. Okay.

And it would be cool if they added more characters a while after the game is released.

I don't care for Zoroark, but sadly I can't think of a better Pokemon representative. Besides the unlikely N. One of the new playable trainers might work.

I don't know how Zoroark would work. It could take the model of another one of the characters, but that would look weird if it didn't take its moves as well. If it did take its moves, than it would just be waste of a character slot.

Yoshimitsu needs in so he can be the broadest character ever. Tekken, SFxT, SC2, etc.

Well, Yoshimitsu was in SC2 (and any other Ninty-released Soul Calibur games) so that wouldn't be a bad idea either.
