If you like making flash animations, Macromedia Flash works perfectly using Wine!

To install wine, just type in the terminal:

sudo apt-get install wine

i meant flashplayer
i won't make time to learn flash :)

i don't know if i'll find full support for my wireless multi-function printer:
Brother MFC-845CW

i have yet to look :)

Linux is awesome!
I use Ubuntu Studio v7.10 dual booted with Vista:mad5:
Once i get (or build:yesnod:) another computer, Linux will be my main OS.
The only reason it isn't right now is because I cant find the right driver for my soundcard (Realtek HDA). I've tried the ALSA drivers, but it doesn't seem to work:(

Does anyone know if Hardy will support these soundcards???

did you try the alternate ISO? i read about how it solves a lot of hardware driver probs... unless your audio card is really new :)
.

Yes, it's new. Only Vista supported hardware in it:(
Toshiba Satellite A205-S4577; it has alot of potential to be a good computer but it has Vista on it, so it's pretty slow

bump
Does anyone who knows ubuntu know what driver to install for this soundcard(in red):

thanks, rob64, but it was a deeper problem which i didn't take time to list symptoms

i followed a link to an old copy of software and it didn't install all the way... the new version wouldn't install until i removed the old one.

if this makes sense to you i googled and found the following solution that solved it:
  • sudo touch /etc/init.d/lpd
  • suco schmod +x /etc/init.d/lpd
this is the crazy stuff i fumbled around with a year ago when i got sick of breaking my OS... i think i'm wiser now, though

thanks for help rob64

I just, and i mean just, got Ubuntu and i must say i do enjoy it. My windows xp kept getting the blue screen of death. The only problem i had with the installation was a Grub error 21 but after playing around i was able to fix it no problem.
