I listen to quite a few different podcasts, and multiple times i always hear them making fun of the wii. What they say is how it gets so boring so quickly and that everyone buying it are the cheap soccer moms who want to get their kids something nice, and how its still a nintendo-game based console and wont be able to hold up in the later years
yet all the fans support it so much........
you guys will probably think you guys are right, and the wii is going to be the biggest success since sliced bread
but do you think your guy's opinions are more valid over people who work in the industry?

im not tring to make flamebait, just some intelligent conversation about how the wii is having such great success, but is getting so much doubt for the future, dont post here unless you are above the age of 5 (nfanboy) or intelligent on the gaming industry.

btw, im not listening to 360 podcasts that all say this (the only one i listen to is major nelsons, and he hardly mentions the wii) the ones i hear making fun of the wii, are.....(checks itunes) 1upyours, IGN podcasts and i think gamespot, and a few other freelancing websites that support all 3 consoles and are just gaming debates..

That summed up what I think of the Wii quite nicely.

I swear to you I saw a perfect example of the soccer mom bit today......

Its the same as anything different, If its different people will bag it out and put crap on it just because its different. EG: That emo kid at school

Partially true I have to admit but one of the big differences is that the Wii was outdated before it was released. Its cpu is estimated to only be 180% the speed of the gamecube.

i honestly dont think people are bagging on it just cause its different, its cause it gets boring..

btw, these things are so old but i couldnt resist, wii + emo = wiimo

well, if the wii is such a big success (which it already kinda is) the gaming industry and the developers arent going to be able to just ignore the wii.

they are going to be forced to try and make better wii games and more good wii games.

something "as big as sliced bread" can't be ignored

kinda? its a big success atm
but yah, it cant be ignored
one point that was brought up in a podcast (1upyours, it was recent)
was that developers might start making games for the wii to get quick bucks, and then use this money to fund bigger and better projects for the 360 and ps3, the projects the developers REALLY want to do
because face it, sure the wiimote is cool
but game ideas come before gameplay ideas
so not every developer wants to make use of the wiimote and have their games on the wii

Well if the developers don't make games for it then it won't be a big success. A lot can still change as the console was just recently released.

I will admit that at the current point in time there is a lack of decent games out. Although in some regions the gamecube was a flop i think nintendo have some better stratergies this time around. Its all a waiting game in my opinion

all that im saying is, is that the wii is catching up to the 360 very quickly. and lets face it, devs are in it for money. they want to support the console that's winning the war, because they want to be on the winning side (more money that way)

i listen to podcasts. For some reason none of my friends know whats a podcast is and one of them thought it was porn . i recommend you check out Video Game Outsiders there podcast is top notch. as for the wii dissing its true they do it, the only one that dont bash it too much is the wii-k in review (IGN)

for obvious reasons
but game scoop and afk do this sometimes, but whenever people bring it up on IGN they quickly shhh it off because ign podcasts try to stay away from debates regardless

Some great podcast's that are not run by the main gaming sites are.

Dualscreen Radio
Ds Life
Nerd Blurb
Wii Spot podcast
Infendo Radio
Video Game Outsiders ( Courtesy of MysticGohan )
Just to name a few that are not created by money grabbing companies

The wii is catching the 360? I don't particularly like the XBox and I know that just isn't right. Number of consoles sold is not a good measurement for the health of the system. Compare software sales over a specific amount of time and Ill change my mind.

You are right that Devs are in it for the money.... except they don't care about the outcome of the war. They can switch sides at any time if the market sours.
