The first thing I do when my Wiimote doesn't work is sync it. I have two Wii consoles and sometimes when i take a wiimote and use it on one Wii, i'll have to sync it again, when I try using it on the first Wii. If your Wii is on, and your wiimote lights just flash and goes back out when you push the A button, then most likely you need to sync it.
