Yes, this is the difference between the 480p and the 480i. The increase of texture sharpness comes from the better color seperation. the 480i signal, is 1/2 of the picture for every frame. So 60 FPS, with 1/2 of the picture being drawen every frame = 60 * .5 = 30FPS, your eyes will see 30Frames Per Second (for source) Once you upgrade to a progressive signal, you get bumped up to 60FPS, or 1 full image every time it is displayed, the Wii will actually output the 60FPS. Animation will look much better. there is more in depth to this, if you have an HDTV, LCDs and Plasma are progressive scan displays, and display at 60FPS, but the source is still an interlaced source, so the tv does more work on a crappy source signal, but this is the basics.
