Australia, June 18, 2007 - Talismoon today announced the second generation of 'Tiltboard' a chipset designed for 360 controllers to bring motion control to the system. The press release makes for interesting reading, and if you're like us you'll probably find it hard to read sentences like: "At long last it's time for Xbox 360 owners to feel the benefits of tilt sensation, something of which PS3 owners have been privileged to since its inception," and that the Tiltboard controller features "a high quality design which is guaranteed to be even more user friendly than the PS3's SIXAXIS controller," without adding your own slightly sarcastic tone. Motion control is all well and good (and the release does mention the Wii) but it's hard to argue that the Sixaxis' tilt controls have made any real impact to date.

Nonetheless, the device sounds quite interesting, sporting "a unique u-shaped board that puts the two Tiltboard control buttons within easy reach of gamers fingers, with one button conveniently located on either wide of the wireless controller battery pack. This gives gamers the ability to make on the fly tilt adjustments during a game without even stopping. This comes in particularly handy for instances in games when it is necessary to switch between both stick and tilt control."

The Tiltboard also gives the user plenty of options, coming pre-loaded with 'TiltTune' firmware which allows the player to "adjust the tilt sensitivity, adjust the 0 degree in order to hold the controller at the most comfortable angle, invert the Y axis and turn the tilt function on and off. Everything required to enjoy the latest sensation in console gaming on Xbox 360 comes in a convenient package and requires only seven wires to solder."

The Tiltboard will be shipping to stores in a week, for a recommended price of US $39.99.

I personally wont be purchasing this controller however if you're into racing games it may be a good decision..

Your thoughts?

Can't beat the Wii-mote for Tilting on Racing Games.
But these controllers can only bring good. Tilting and great GFX, Xbox and PS3 have it all :)
