The last thing Sony needs right now after a less than stellar PS3 launch is more bad publicity. It seems about once a week another sony PR rep or executive will say something that is false, stupid or just downright arrogant. Its about time for Sony to send a memo entitled "How to complete an interview without making us look stupid and arrogant" to every executive and public relations person from the top down. Below are some examples and a link to the full list. What do you think?

    1) "We feel very confident that the PlayStation fan is going to wait until they can get a PlayStation 3. If they do pick up a Wii, it's as more of a novelty."
Dave Karraker, senior director of corporate communications at SCEA a in an interview with the Wall Street Journal

    2) "Wii is a core gaming device. It's a more fun, intuitive sort of product to pick up”.
Sony Australia & New Zealand general manager Nic Foster in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald

    3) "Nobody will ever use 100% of PS3's capability"
Phil Harrison, president of Sony Computer Entertainment's Worldwide Studios speaking with MTV news.

    4) “Microsoft is not a technology company.”

    5) “Sorry you didn't have the opportunity to buy a PS3 this year, but I'm sure it beats lining up in a queue for hours on end only to be told the store has sold out.”
Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Australia in an interview with the age.com.au

    6) "A bit pricey" [speaking about nintendo Wii]
Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Australia in an interview with the age.com.au

Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Australia in an interview with the age.com.au

    8) "I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do." [speaking about Microsoft]
SCEA boss Kaz Hirai in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine

That sounds arrogant, maybe, but it's the truth. With theDS , it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen. But I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." [comparing the DS and the PSP]

theres a load of bull. Sony is like the biggest mimicer ever lol. Thats why they shoved in the motion sensor and ripped out the more needed Rumble feature just to match the Wii. (though it didnt work)

You don't have the quote in this thread.. but here:

May 8th, 2006 - New PS3 controller will have six degrees of motion, but no rumble feature. Sony's Phil Harrison states that rumble was last gen and no longer needed.

Last gen, that's funny.. I guess this is why they are now putting out a rumble headset for the PS3. I think what Phil really meant to say was "we got taken to court by Nintendo and lost so we will have to find a new way to implement the rumble feature" LOLOL

EDIT: ok my bad, it wasn't sony that is making the rumble headset so I appologize for that. Apparently the company is Tritton. Not that Sony doesn't deserve some bashing but I want to be fair. :p

Sony needs to stop putting their foot in their mouth, and start putting their foot in their game developers.

Disclaimer: DRUGS ARE BAD KIDS! IT WILL FUC& YOU UP!
Sony is really smoking the "good stuff", because those statements are the pinnacle of arrogance. Does Sony really think that Nintendo and Microsoft are sitting on their asses. M$ pioneered online gaming and BigN is the leader of innovation.

    2) "Wii is a core gaming device. It's a more fun, intuitive sort of product to pick up”.
    > Is this Reggie speaking or a Sony exec?

    3) "Nobody will ever use 100% of PS3's capability"
    > So I'm paying $600 and I'm still not getting my money's worth?!

    4) “Microsoft is not a technology company.”
    >Yeah, but they can stack $100 bills from here to the moon! HA!

    5) “Sorry you didn't have the opportunity to buy a PS3 this year, but I'm sure it beats lining up in a queue for hours on end only to be told the store has sold out.
    >Thanks a lot for rubbing it in the faces of your fanboy lapdogs!

    6) "A bit pricey" [speaking about nintendo Wii]
    >LOL! no comment

    7) "A big investment for family entertainment."[speaking about Xbox360]
    >Oh really, If I had to spend $600 on a new piece of tech, the kids better stay the F@!# away from it!

    8) "I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do." [speaking about Microsoft]
    >That's coming from a company who pulled the SIXAXIS from their ass after copying BigN. "Look what we can do..we created SIXAXIS! Nintendo got nothin on this!"

Sony is really on **** street.

There's some right corkers there. I particularly liked their opinion of the DS.

So the DS is a gimmick? Very well then, but it's a gimmick that's selling more than you.

Sweet Jesus! If anything it's the complete opposite. Graphics get outdated and lose their "long-lasting appeal" whereas the DS control mechanism is not subject to the perils of the 18 month computer technology cycle. I don't see many people still playing their Atari Lynx and going on about the sw33t gr4ph1x.

In conclusion, FU Phil Harrison, president of Sony Worldwide Studios. You've shown how much of a try-hard spinster manager you are and how much of a gamer you aren't.
