I'm not too sure where you're coming from with the rest of your assumptions. We do not yet know if the Pikmin are permanently out on the field or if the only come out once you perform a move, and the whole thing about not being able to use your final smash is completely made up. We don't even know what his Final Smash is yet.
They look like they are going to be out in the field permanently because otherwise losing them wouldn't be a problem. And he's probably talking about his smash attack instead of his final smash.

Without Pikmin, Olimar can’t even do a Smash Attack. And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.

Hm.

I hadn't made the connection that that made losing a single Pikmin a problem.

Thanks, this makes things more interesting.

ya i noticed that too

not only is this probably going to be the most fun wii game

but it looks like its going to be one of the wii games with the best graphics (i haven't played enough wii games to say that it IS the wii game with the best graphics)

It seems heavily implied that the Pikmin are permenantly on the field, Else loosing them wouldn't be a problem. My understanding is that, Like the second Ice-Climber, Olimar's Pikmin can be knocked off seperately from Olimar, depriving him of his pikmin. And it's explicitly stated that he can't use a smash attack without his pikmin, so he can't use his smash attacks if the Pikmin are knocked off.

I did misread part of the Dojo article. That's where my Final Smash comment came from. So, we don't know that for certain yet, though I personally suspect that it will be the case, or at least that his final smash will be severely weakened without the pikmin.
