Why the name Link???

Very Possible also. Its next to impossible to really understand why the creators named Link Link. Infact its pretty hard to determine why anyone names anything for any reason what so ever. Unless theres a paper somewhere where it has the creator saying he named it for this reason, then next best bet is to try to see symbolism.

Actually, here's what really happened:

See, the guys at Nintendo were trying to find a name for their hero.

They tried looking for symbolism, and maybe bring a name form it... But they couldn't think of anything. The English developers were yelling at them to figure out a name, and to understand them, the Japanese developers grabbed their English to Japanese handbook.

After having a very slow argument, the Japanese struck an idea.

They flipped pages around randomly, with their eyes closed. Then they turned the book over, keeping the page. Then they had a contest to see who could hold their breath the longest. The winner was 43 seconds.

So they took the number 43, and found the 43rd word on that page.

FYI: Donkey Kong is only called 'Donkey' because someone misread what was wrote down. Obviously it was meant to be 'Monkey Kong' but 'Donkey' worked so well that they left it.

Well its creative, and new. Miyamoto once said in an old old intreview that his name is link because he is the link bewteen the player ans the game.

Creativity is the answer for everything when it comes to Nintendo. They didn't take the M-Rated war games path (w/ a few exceptions) but created a new style with creative and colorful characters...hence Link.

Because naming him Steven or Harry would sound stupid.

anything normal would have killed a nice fantasy game, plus anything really wacked would have done the same, maybe they had all these ideas but then got on the piss one nite and cut out like a letter from each of four names they had though of and made link and then programed it into thier game and then wen they all woke up hung over as in the morning were like sh*t what have we done?! oh well too late now LINK it is!
