If you've ever any questions, make sure you go over the challenge rules on page one.

I won't be cold and just blow ya off though. :p The Monotype challenge has an eggs-per-team limit of two, but since you're also doing a Scramble, you can have as many eggs as you want. Otherwise yeah, you wouldn't be getting that Spiritomb.

Not a bother at all. :p I'll prepare a Sableye and Spiritomb egg for ya, and you'll catch the other two since they're wild in-game. Private message me your FC bro.

Challenge Update

My game started off fine. I chose Snivy and headed for the first badge. Picked up Panpour and didn't bother catching any other pokemon. I beat the first badge easily and unlocked trading. I sent over my egg and hatched Zorua. Then I started having problems. I started wondering if I would fail the challenge before even really starting. Everything I tried fighting in the beginning area knocked out my lvl 1 Zorua. It didn't help that all I kept running into were lvl 4s. After wasting a bunch of potions I got lucky with a lvl 2 Patrat and ever since then it's been easy leveling up. I just got out of Wellspring Cave and am heading for the second gym.

Team Stats:
Zorua LV. 16
Snivy (Cut slave) LV. 14
Panpour (Surf slave) LV. 12

I'm looking for a challenge, and while I could decide this myself it's a lot of fun to have others decide it for me.

I own all the standard pokemon games up to Fire red and Leaf Green (This means ruby/sapphire/emerald too, since FR and LG came out after). I'll be getting platinum soon, just tried it with a library copy and liked it enough that I wanna buy it now, but until then these are the only ones I have.

I want someone to give me a monotype or monoshape challenge, I'm looking for something rather interesting. Monoshape is sort of a variant of monotype, where the general shape of a pokemon (i.e. a mouse pokemon, a winged pokemon, an inanimate object pokemon, etc) is what I'm limited to.

I'm not sure if it's possible to do both at once, i.e. a mouse pokemon challenge might be able to work but a normal only mouse shape pokemon challenge would probably just limit me to ratatta or something, which since there's no duplicates allowed, ruins my chances of any variety.

So hit me with your best shot! Looking forward to some ideas.

A monoshape challenge... I've never heard of that, but it's a cool idea. I'm not entirely sure how I'd handle the ruleset for such a challenge, though... But better yet, that gives me a great idea for a different new challenge; the single egg group. :D I'm definitely gonna work on that ruleset, since I feel it'd be easier to tackle and incorporate into combined challenges.

That aside, welcome to the forums Mythrignoc! A thank you for the challenge inspiration as well. =)

If it were up to me to give you a monotype challenge, I'd dare you to tackle a Ground challenge in Red, Blue, or Yellow. Ground types don't have many answers to water and especially grass types, so it really would be a worthy challenge. Think you're up to the challenge? ;)

Apologies for the double post but a quick couple of questions about the rules.

Say a pokemon isn't ground at first but evolves into a ground later? Is that okay?
What about acquiring pokemon but not using them just for the purpose of meeting #of pokemon caught requirements for items like item finder, exp share, etc etc?

Anyways, assuming the first is allowed, I've already pre-decided my roster (what I will have once evolutions are finished)-

Nidoking
Nidoqueen
Marowak
Sandslash
Onix
Dugtrio

Challenge accepted. I'll attempt it with Red, yellow kind of eliminates that possibility with the frigging pikachu.

Challenge accepted right back at ya. First time I've said that to a challenger, harr.

Since the first ground type you can get is Geodude (I think?), you might as well take Squirtle/Bulbasaur to run down the first gym as quick as possible. Best of luck.

Eh, debatable. The first ground type you can get is technically geodude or onix (both reside in that first cave), but including evolution lines, the first ground types you can get are Nidoran Male and Female, as they reside right in the patch of grass before victory road.

If you can find an Onix before a Geodude, I envy you. Can you perfectly avoid Zubats too? :p But yes, that's true.

You're right and wrong on the Nidoran evolution lines though. Since they're only ground types once they're evolved to King/Queen, you need to find a moonstone. And of course, nobody in the world has avoided Geodudes long enough to find that first moonstone.

Although you are correct in that they're the first pokemon eligible to catch for your monotype challenge. I shoulda thought of that. >_>;

Well, I CAN catch geodude, but I really hate Geodudes mainly because of that stupid "you must trade to evolve to graveler" crap. So right now I'll stick with Nidoqueen and Nidoking, which I just acquired. Gotta love frameskip!

"you must trade to evolve to golem" crap.

Fixed. :p

But yes, very true. I still remember all those years ago when I was a n00b at pokemon, I was confused as **** when I couldn't get Graveler to evolve. I just couldn't figure it out until I got all the way to saving Silph Co. and I read that one document that said pokemon can evolve through trades. I still vividly remember that deep-sinking feeling of stupid I had. Shoulda just asked a friend, or google. Luckily, I had a Golem by the time I reached Blaine.

Heh, whoops, my mistake.

Anyway, found out Red doesn't have sandshrew. It's blue that has it. Replacing sandslash with Rhydon. No biggie, Nidoqueen, Nidoking and Dugtrio are kicking ass so far.
