Completed Mario Kart 8. dontevenknowwhyjustdidit

Lots moar Don't Starve. I successfully survived the entirety of Summer... but nearly had my entire base burned down because I turned off the Ice Fling-O-Matic on a night I turned Werebeaver (oh, I don't think I mentioned I'm playin' as Woody). I simply nom'd the chest that began smokin' and the wild fire was prevented, thankfully. That almost-disaster aside, it was quite stressful. I don't know if Reign of Giants' Winter is harder to survive than it used t' be, but Summer is much nastier to deal with than Winter. Faster spoilin' food and havin' to protect assets by fueling three Ice Fling-O-Matics is utterly time-consumin'.

Oh, and three bloody Treeguards attacked me across 20 days. Two of which were maximum size and spawned in my bloody base, at the same time, at night. That was just great.

Speakin' of boss mobs, I successfully slayed a Spider Queen at the very end of Summer after I had discovered the worm hole outside my base lead all the way across the map, t' a rocky biome @ millionsofspidernests. Really wish I would'a known that sooner, as I traveled out there once. My sanity was too low for me t' test the wormhole in the rocky biome, so I hadn't found out for 35~ days.

That aside, the only thing I accomplished was poopin' up my very small grass farm and creatin' three bee boxes for a honey 'n flower supply. Summer absolutely did not let me explore, as a backpack accident ended up in my pig skins bein' burnt, meanin' I couldn't craft a chest armor protective against overheatin'.

... Oh, and I used up the touch stone I discovered 'cause I fought a tentacle while Werebeaver and didn't keep an eye on my log meter. It inescapably killed me the moment I transformed back. woops

Got to level 13 in Archeage. PvP starts at lvl 30 I've heard, and that's when the sandbox nature of the game opens up. Banditry sounds like a real good time. Until then, It's just a matter of enduring the grind. My character's using Sorcery, Witchcraft, and Auramancy, which results in me being labeled as an Arcanist. It works well. Start with a snare spell, then freeze to slow others down, then hurl fireballs until dead.

I've reached Solstheim in Skyrim for the first time. This is nostalgia incarnate. A wet dream for those who've played their share of Morrowind. While Solstheim in Bloodmoon was a chunk of Skyrim, it's now a vintage taste of Vvardenfell. Being called outlander and told that they're watching you made me smile like a damn fool.

It's hilarious how Redoran is the leading house when a couple centuries ago it was losing territory to the Empire and being ousted by the conservative houses while having to maintain a chivalrous attitude. That accent though. Oh god, that accent. It's horrific. I think they realized that having the old raspy gravel Dunmer voice would make everyone want to try Morrowind and then the people would realize how dumbed-down everything's become, so they intentionally screwed that up by making the Dunmer have the worst voice in Skyrim.

I've been playin' MK8 quite a bit lately. My VR has hit a standstill at around 7200, it seems. I can never run into lobbies wherein the majority at at my VR, so gaining VR takes win after win... I'm by no means a consistent player, and MK8's flaws make it difficult to make comebacks, so I don't believe my VR will fluctuate in either direction very much. Valid debate whether or not past Mario Karts are the flawed games, since comebacks were much more achievable, and mistakes were less punished.

Oh, and Smash 4 demo. Mega Man's fun said the projectile spammer.

Yup, I complained about the inefficiency of coins to many of people. Most of them thought coins was a good idea. I liked how in MKW you could go from being last to being first using skill (and using items wisely). The instant respawn is necessary in MK8 because you loose coins when you die. The amount of time you loose by the lack of full coin accelleration is greater than the time it takes to be taken out of the game for a short time after death. The design choice they made for MK8 was to add more game play time by removing death time but the punishment for dying is too severe for competitors.

Truth be told, I agree that coins are a good idea... they're just implemented poorly. Like with the aforementioned issue ya mentioned, or havin' them in the item roulette makin' offensive items like red shells much more powerful. That latter results in (bad) luck bein' a more integral part of the game. Blue shells weren't bad enough apparently.

If it was a lot easier for players in lower places to nab coins, i.e. more coins appear on the track as racers go by, perhaps it wouldn't affect MK8's balance in such a bad way. Coins via item box would still be a no-go, 'course... 'cept maybe a super coin item that only appears when you're really low on coins. I can imagine an old-fashioned 8-bit coin block that gives a coin every time ya hop.

'Ey, 'least Link won't be P:M-levels of amazing in Smash 4.

Ah yes, the overpowered items in the middle zones. I hate them so much. I get hit in first, loose coins and passed by 2nd and 3rd. I get nuked in the middle zone, loose the rest of my coins get passed by everyone in the mid zone. Spend the rest of the game trying to collect coins and by the time I have enough coins the game is over or I have to climb back through the nuke zone without taking much damage with very little time to clutch a win.

If things could go back to being MKW (without coins and without overly powerful mid zone items), it would make me a really happy Mario Karter.

Midzone items bein' broken wouldn't be quite as unbearable if good luck with items was more common when you're at the back'a the pack. But no, coins 'n single mushrooms for three laps is too often standard fare for 10th place... coins' poor implementation and so many strong midzone items put aside, I interpret MK8's biggest flaw as bein' the utter inconsistency of the item roulette. If ya could get items that bring you back up to the clusterfuck zone, ya'd 'least have multiple chances at gettin' past it.

but srsly why can i get a crazy 8 in second

Completed the first of Skyrim's Dwemer ruin quest. That Dwemer mage ghost was brutal. The steam blast would virtually insta-kill me so I had to lure him to a suspended pillar, where he decided to stay and I could safely use my bow without receiving much damage. Following the main quest, I will be traveling to Solitude for the first time in a couple of years.

Beat Radiant Dawn. First Fire Emblem game I've played where no one died (because I got crithax'd once by an Iron Bow Archer in Path of Radiance).

Sadly, that results in me not unlocking a few themes from the Sound Room afterwards...massive troll. Bleh, death music usually isn't that good anyway.

Now that Fire Emblem is out of the way (for now), I'll be moving onto Zelda. Will start Ocarina of Time 3D when I'm not Smashing.
