Everybody Votes Channel

I was just thinking that (make channel updates to own modders)

which kind of sucks for me:prrr:

A brand new channel launches today for the Wii Menu providing a quick, easy and fun way to cast your answers to a multitude of different questions. The Everybody Votes Channel allows you to compare and contrast your opinions with those of friends, family and people from across the globe. With a regularly updated supply of new questions to ponder, this is a great way to discover not only differences between you and your family, but also between your country and others!

"If you have ever wondered whether many other people share the same opinions, preferences, likes or dislikes as you, then the Everybody Votes Channel is a quick and easy way to quell those curiosities" says Rose Lappin, Sales and Marketing Director, Nintendo Australia. "From whether people believe in aliens to what they would do if they had 1 million dollars, this quirky but addictive channel lets you find out what others think as well as being a great discussion starter with family and friends"

This latest addition to the Wii Menu features different general poll questions for users to answer. Three questions will always be offered. These will then closed after a week and updated with new ones. When accessing the main page of the Everybody Votes Channel, users will be greeted with the current polls open and can then register their votes by clicking on their chosen one.

Within hours of the poll closing, the latest regional results of the poll will be made available and will be displayed for each region of the relevant country. Vote ratios for each question will be displayed on the Channel using hundreds of Miis to represent the different votes.

The previous twelve polls that a player has voted on are archived so they can check back on them after they have closed. Each time a new poll closes, if the user has voted on it, it is added to the archive and the oldest one on there is deleted.

In addition to casting a vote, users can also predict the outcome of the poll. Every correct prediction will be added to the player's profile and used to calculate how tuned in they are with general public opinion, which is shown in the "How Tuned In Are You?" section.

Users are able to register a total of six different players on each Wii console using Mii data and names from the Mii Channel, meaning that each member of the household can have their own say on a poll. The Everybody Votes Channel records all of the votes cast by a player and allows them to check their opinions against those of their family using vote results as well as their "How Tuned In Are You?" results. This allows users to compare numbers of consecutive wins and overall wins versus losses recorded.

Worldwide Polls
As well as providing three different sets of general poll questions each week, the "Everybody Votes Channel" also features worldwide poll questions. These are set twice a month and run for approximately two weeks, with live result updates appearing just hours after the vote closes. Miis illustrate the global vote ratio and a bar graph shows the results for each different country globally. Players can sort these results by vote percentage, country or in order of prediction accuracy.

Have Your Say
An additional feature of this channel is the "Suggest a Question" section, which allows players to suggest a poll topic they would like to see on the service. Each player is allowed to make up to one suggestion a day, the best of which may be converted into a poll question by Nintendo.

Everybody Votes Channel is the latest addition to the Wii Menu and can be downloaded for free from the Wii Shop Channel. The Wii Menu is the starting point for all of the console's functions and offers a gateway to a rich variety of entertainment options. When connected to a TV, the Wii Menu offers a simple interface letting users pick games to play, receive news and weather reports, view and send photos or even create playable caricatures of themselves to use in actual games. Additional functions allow users to download classic games to Wii's Virtual Console.

- Sorry for the massive post - this is off nintendo's website...

i have just downloaded the everybody votes channel and its actually alright!!!! So who in the uk voted for fried eggs, lol

I can't believe people are complaining about something they've got for free. "ZOMG DIS IZ poo AND SO POINTLESS!!!". Pfft. Don't use it then. I also read in this thread that someone said it was 'disappointing'. How can it be disappointing? Disappointing compared to what - not getting any new channel? It's not like Nintendo promised us a cool new channel and we all got our hopes up that it would be a music and video channel, and then they let us down with the Everybody Votes Channel. They've given this to us out of the blue, so stop moaning.

Hey. shadap. I'd rather pay 30 bucks for a new update n channel if it'd be of any great value. Free "sh*tty" channels? Free or not they suck. I'd rather pay money for channels and updates if it means nintendo gets real n starts putting time into useful channels that may actually be worth using. I mean free channel... yah i'd rather have a stocks channel.

Everybody Votes Channel is just a free gimmick that'll only matter to losers who have shallow pockets and a stiff hand. This channel is useless and a "dissapointment" (my quote!) because nintendo wasted their time developing such a lame box to take up space on their channel lineup.

I like it What ever will fill up my wii channels. donst bother me too much i submitted my own question but im sure it too inapropriate to be posted.

hah yeahh

the first time one of you has your question come up on this new channel be shure to let us know..

sounds bogus to me.
maybe if they asked questions that affected new game or channel developments i might change my opinion on this thing... ok ill shadap myself im shure you're all tired of seein me post so much on this

Maybe someone should suggest the poll..."Do you like the Everybody Votes Channel?...YES or NO."

Me personally, I like it...Its FREE and I like the Mii integration...It makes me think about how they could use Mii integration with an online gaming channel, which would be great.

You guys have all got it wrong, LISTEN!

Nintendo are smart on this one for one reason. This is a pointless channel to some people, and it's not worth buying with Wii Points which is why it's free. Otherwise no one would pay for it. HOWEVER! Nintendo made this channel for a different reason. Nintendo made this channel to attract even more people to the Nintendo Wii and to reel in more customers. The News and Weather channel were good, but 2 fancy channels wasn't enough. So Nintendo sat long and hard thinking about another pointless channel to give the Nintendo Wii console even more sales. That's where the Everybody Vote Channel comes in handy.

Channels in the future that server a purpose and 95% of people would want to download will cost money, that's their strategy.

i don't think its a dumb idea. i'm sure nintendo's main purpose is to eventually put up some questions in there about upcoming updates, hardware, games, or whatever so they can have our opinion on it. possibly some questions about the upcoming internet and online modes.
