I think its his cockyness that people notice. Like on the show House, hes a dick but is really good at what he does. Oh a better example would be Scrubs, Dr. Cox is a total jerk face but gives a lot of good info, like Shiftallout.

I think theres a reason they call him Cox.. kinda like cocks.. It happens a lot in film. LIke some douche would be given the name Ben Dushay.
