Summer time means its time to cut the grass for some people. But why not be a "clever sod" and make a Wiimote controlled lawnmower ?

The wiimote has been used for a variety of purposes, some that were never intended for — mowing your lawn for instance. Yes, that’s right. It can mow your lawn!! The thought of being able to sit back, relax, and sipping on my nice cup of ice tea in the summer while driving my lawnmower with my wiimote sounds like a great idea. In some cases, you’ll probably have a much easier time getting your kids to do the mowing for you.
The latest innovation has been found by researchers at the University of South Denmark and is called the Casmobot — a robotic lawnmower. Robotics researcher Kjeld Jensen says the Casmobot is about making cutting the grass a more efficient process. The Wiimote communicates to the Casmobot using Bluetooth and can even allow the mowing process to be completely automated. It’s pretty cool to see the motion technology put to use outside of gaming, and it makes me wonder if we might not see the MotionPlus similarly implemented in the future.
“We have been introducing [Casmobot] to the professional workers at the municipalities and the minute they got this Wiimote in their hands and started cutting grass, they were smiling and laughing all the time so I guess I’m not the only one that thinks this is a very good idea.”
“This robotics module could, in theory, be put in to any kind of vehicle. In theory, you could actually take this module and put it in to a wheelchair, and walk your grandma just by sitting inside at the window and using your Wiimote.”

Wonder if they will make a ride on one?

Hah, it was only a matter of time before something like this was "invented". The Wii remote is just a specialized piece of bluetooth technology, after all. I can imagine a wireless tech. specialist would have a rather easy time integrating the Wii remote into something like this.

This is nnovative, yes, but I wouldn't be suprised if this had been done before; bar the Wii remote. Considering someone's modified their lawnmower to fly before, it wouldn't be much of a suprise.
