It's pretty clear that HD-DVD is going to be the winner in this format war. The Porn industry, believe it or not, sells a lot more than the movie industry. Like it or not it is the truth and IS why VHS won over betamax. Same case here. Sony's pushing overpriced media that has no real advantages and wouldn't for years to come. How long has 480i been a standard? That's right years, just as 1080p will most likely be the standard for years to come, because money drives the market. Not many people even OWN a HD set, let alone know or want a blu-ray player.

Sure I'd like to see Blu-Ray on my PC and HD-DVD everywhere else because there is a little more storage space. I could only imagine backing up 100GB of DATA to 2-3 discs. But at least with HD-DVD I could do it on 3-4, but that won't happen either. The most likely thing to happen with that is HD-DVD burners supporting Blu-Ray as well.

Wish I wouldn't have sold my xbox360, I had high expectations for the PS3, but now its just the next Dreamcast.

Sure did a few months ago. Bought it brand new premium, bought perfect dark zero and extra controller. Flashed the firmware to the latest Xtreme firmware, kept it for a little over a month and sold it all. I was really bored with it, never got to try anything but dead rising, need for speed and gears of war. I mostly was going to play with it modded for Media stuff but decided against it. I wish I'd have kept it as now I don't want a PS3 since it flopped. I'll get one again soon.

i didnt like perfect dark, i had dead rising but returned it but my mom said i can get a hdtv so now i might rebuy it so i can read, gears of war is the way to go =] yah yah buy it again, did you have live? cause if not that must have been why you were bored

Really? I loved playing perfect dark co-op with my brother. Yeah I first hooked it up to my TV in the bedroom 32" Regular TV and couldn't read anything on Dead Rising. Hooked it up to my HDTV and was able to read. Yeah I had live but it just wasn't all I had hoped it was. I'll give it a shot again. I did enjoy playing Madden 07 on live though with the microphone.

i have gears of war and call of duty 3 and halo 2 and arcade games, its to many games for me to handle xD cod3 and gow and geometry wars alone are enough for a 360

lol ps3 is not the next dreamcast..why did the dreamcast fail because sega let it fail and it released a **** load of systems and addons before the release of the dreamcast makeing there fanboys spend even more on there products that wasnt getting to long of a life span ..and sony is much bigger company that sega so ps3 will not go under.. though i just hate the price of the ps3 lol if anything is ganna make it fail its the price.. remember panasonic 3do same price and it failed ... but im not saying that the ps3 will fail better not im planning on getting one soon lol

No its not the next Dreamcast, its a figure of speech. But it is likely for it to follow a similar path.

I am absolutely possitive that for what ps3 lovers want, the ps3 is fantastic. But it is SO FAR from what I WANT that there is no way in HELL i'll spend the cash on one. SUre - it has bonza graphics. Probably nice sound as well. Maybe even some half decent games. But I've looked at all the pros and cons and I've looked at all the capabiliteis. ANd with EVERYTHING it offers, I'm a thousand times better off with a shiny new PC. Period.

Sorry, I'm just not a console man. My last console before the Wii was an atari 2600, and if you even THINK of trying some crap about that meaning I'm not a "real gamer" then I'll ask your spouse to thump you because I can't...

I'll end up getting one too, just because of the Final Fantasy series, other than that no need for one. Almost like Sony and Square are forcing me to get one. Maybe I'll be able to just rent one.
